Become a Supporting Member
Pearson Accountability Alliance is a community-based, public-interest organization documenting environmental and health impacts from Toronto Pearson Airport. Supporting membership keeps this work independent and helps build the first region-wide, resident-led record of aircraft noise, winds, runway operations, and public-health consequences — including support for community monitoring efforts as resources permit.
For over 25 years, Toronto Pearson Airport has operated without a current Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF). GTAA has installed more than two dozen noise monitors across the region and now publishes some community noise data, but the records contain frequent monitor outages and unexplained gaps. There is no public reporting of noise monitor uptime or calibration history, and communities still do not receive clear, transparent reporting on monthly exceedances or night-time disturbance.
Everything you see on this website — data analysis, noise reports, FOI/ATIP investigations, public-health briefings, and web infrastructure — has been funded entirely out-of-pocket by one resident.
To expand this work and respond to growing community demand, we are launching the Pearson Accountability Alliance Membership Program.
- Independent noise reports for community and GTAA monitors
- Supporting community-led efforts to expand noise and air-quality monitoring, as resources permit
- Public-health documentation and analysis
- FOI/ATIP investigations and evidence disclosure
- Legal and regulatory accountability work
- The web infrastructure required to make this evidence public
Together, we can build the first independent, region-wide public record of aircraft noise, winds, runway configurations, and related health impacts in Canada — and support community-driven monitoring initiatives as funding becomes available.
We are working toward formal charitable status. In the meantime, supporting memberships help fund the core work: compiling evidence, maintaining noise and wind datasets, publishing public reports, and documenting the health and social costs externalized onto communities.
How supporting membership works
- You choose a membership level that matches your situation (individual, community advocate, or institutional).
- You contribute using the membership buttons on this page (Square) or via Interac e-Transfer.
- You remain in control — there is no automatic renewal; you decide if and when to renew next year.
- Your support funds independent evidence, public-health analysis, and community education about Pearson’s impacts.
PAA does not sell personal data or provide access to membership lists. Membership is about supporting independent evidence and fair treatment for residents, municipalities, and workers affected by Pearson.
When you click a “Pay via Square” button below, you will be taken to our secure checkout page. Please ensure the amount matches your chosen level.

Supporter
- Helps cover hosting, tools, and data storage for evidence pages and datasets.
- Supports preparation of public-facing summaries, timelines, and explainer pages.
- Signals that residents under the flight paths value independent evidence.
Community Advocate
- Helps fund deeper research and analysis (noise, winds, runway configuration, and ATIP records).
- Supports preparation of letters, motions, and public submissions based on evidence.
- Helps PAA respond to questions from residents, media, and policymakers.
Institutional Partner
- For neighbourhood associations, community groups, unions, or professional bodies.

Membership FAQ
Why do you charge for membership?
Independent noise analysis, FOI/ATIP investigations, public-health documentation, and web infrastructure
are currently funded by one resident. Membership helps expand this work and support education,
research, and public-awareness activities across the region.
Do members get early access to reports?
Yes. Members receive reports before public release, along with briefings and the ability to request
priority analysis for particular locations or events.
Is my membership anonymous?
You choose. Some members want public recognition; others prefer privacy. You can indicate your
preference on the form and change it at any time.
Are reports available to the public?
Yes. All major findings are eventually published publicly, but members help determine which
neighbourhoods, monitors, or datasets are prioritized and receive early access to new analyses.
Can organizations join?
Yes. Unions, neighbourhood associations, tenant boards, schools, and community groups can join as
Institutional / Group members and receive tailored evidence packages and support.
Is my membership fee tax-deductible?
Pearson Accountability Alliance is incorporated as a non-profit organization in Ontario, but is not yet
a registered charity. As a result, we cannot currently issue official tax receipts for income tax
purposes. If charitable status is obtained in the future, members will be notified and eligible
contributions going forward will be receipted.
How are membership funds used?
Funds support the practical work required to build a public-interest evidence record: analyzing GTAA
and community noise data, documenting monitor outages, processing FOI/ATIP disclosures, maintaining
datasets and web infrastructure, and supporting community-led monitoring initiatives as resources
permit.
What if I cannot afford a membership fee?
Financial barriers should never prevent anyone from joining. If you want to be part of the Pearson
Accountability Alliance but cannot afford a paid membership, please email
membership@pearsonaccountabilityalliance.org.
We will gladly include you as a member at no cost.
