Acacia Park Noise Monitor — 2025 Overnight Noise Audits
This page publishes month-by-month overnight noise audits for the Acacia Park community noise monitor. Each audit focuses on the concentration, intensity, and timing of aircraft noise events during typical sleep hours — generally between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
These audits provide an independent, verifiable record of what the Acacia monitor actually captured during 2025. Each file includes noise-event counts, timestamps, maximum dB values, and runway-procedure associations where available.
For each month you will find:
- Summary report — a visual, resident-friendly overview (PDF and XLSX).
- Events dataset — the full, time-stamped events table (PDF and XLSX).
Resident downloads are suitable for sharing with neighbours, elected officials, and community groups.
Investigator files provide structured data for researchers, journalists, legal counsel, and public
agencies who need to verify or reproduce the analysis.
The Acacia Park noise monitor is one of the most important community monitors in the Pearson network. It sits beneath extremely dense nighttime arrival paths and provides essential ground-truth evidence of the noise burden experienced by residents.
Over the past two decades, residents have repeatedly documented periods where the Acacia monitor was partially or fully offline — including a three-month outage in 2023. At no point was the public transparently told that the monitor was down, even as its data continued to be used as if it represented “normal” conditions.
Missing data is not “quiet.” It simply means nothing was measured. When institutions present data without disclosing monitor outages, the public, policymakers, and health authorities are misled into believing that night noise levels are lower or more intermittent than they truly are.
On January 9, 2026, Pearson Accountability Alliance submitted formal requests to the GTAA, NAV CANADA, and Transport Canada seeking complete Noise Monitoring Terminal (NMT) outage logs for Acacia Park and the entire Pearson noise monitoring network.
Requested records include:
- dates and durations of outages,
- reasons for failures or degraded performance,
- maintenance logs,
- configuration changes,
- data-capture availability for each monitor.
Once the requested records are released, this page will be updated to reflect the information provided.
Until then, the monthly audits below represent what the monitor successfully captured — not a guarantee that the institutional monitoring system was functioning reliably throughout the year.
2025 Year Overview (Acacia Park)
Read together, the 12 monthly audits show a year of dense, repetitive night noise exposure over Acacia Park. While the exact counts and dB values for each month are documented inside the summaries and datasets, several broad patterns matter:
- Overnight aircraft noise is not an occasional event — it is a recurring, structured part of Pearson’s operating pattern.
- Many nights show clusters of high-dB events compressed into short time windows, increasing the likelihood of repeated awakenings and fragmented sleep.
- The pattern is systemic, not accidental: similar runway configurations and track densities reappear month after month, particularly during the restricted hours.
